Cake Baking Contest

Contest Rules:

    •  All the participants need to have an active GCKA membership.
    • Only one entry is allowed per family.
    • Theme: Christmas - any flavor, shape, and size is allowed.
    •  Cake must be made from “scratch”. Any readymade cake mixes such as Betty Crocker, Duncan Hines, Pillsbury, etc. are not allowed.
    •  A minimum of 5 entries are required for this competition. GCKA BOD reserves the right to cancel this competition if this requirement is not met.
    • Participants should be ready to answer any question judges might ask about the recipe (Judges will call you over the phone.).
    • The cake setup should be ready by 3:00 PM (Judging will start around 4:00 PM).. Participant should come to the venue and set up the table yourselves.
    • Participants are required to provide a list of ingredients (not recipe)
    • The last date of registration is 12/12/2020. The contest date will be 12/19/2020.

    The venue is not decided yet, venue details will be shared once it is decided.

    Judging will be done by local food experts.

    Judging Criteria: Total 100 points

    • Flavor (aroma, taste, good balance of flavors) - 30 points
    • Consistency (moist and tender crumb; not soggy or dry)- 25 points
    • Texture (even grain, lump free, evenly baked)- 20 points
    •  Visual Appeal (shape/size/even surface, overall appeal)- 25 points
