THE GREATER CAROLINA KERALA ASSOCIATION

Dear friends and families,

This past year was a year like no other. It will forever be etched in our hearts and minds as the year in which the pandemic became the defining global health crisis of our time. Our community all over the world witnessed both grave human tragedy and inspiring human resilience. It challenged us. It tested us. It changed all of us.

A new year is upon us. GCKA is ready to move forward. Our motto for this year is “Creating a slice of God’s own country… ഒരുമയോടെ, കരുതലോടെ”. We are all in this together—and we all will get through this together. Our vision is to promote and facilitate the cultural, educational, social, and economic welfare of the Malayali community in the Greater Carolina region. We will live by our motto and execute our vision with renewed energy and passion.

I am truly honored to lead our beloved organization. Thank you to each one of you for the opportunity to serve as the President of the Greater Carolina Kerala Association for the 2021 – 2022 year.

I moved to North Carolina in 2009. This organization immediately gave my family and me a sense of belonging. My kids made friends quickly and we were so excited to celebrate all the events that we missed from back home in Kerala.

GCKA has a rich history of diversity and inclusion. With the focused leadership of this organization, we have been able to affirm these important values in our everyday lives. As Keralites, we are proud of our culture and traditions. GCKA will continue to serve as a platform that provides our members with opportunities to spend time with one another, share our thoughts and views, and pass on our culture to the generations after us.

Please stay tuned for our emails and keep up with our Facebook/Instagram pages or website for the updates regarding events. We will try our best to provide a fun-filled exciting year. We are seeking all your support, help and participation in all GCKA events.

We are thankful to each one of you for being a valuable part of this organization. We are so grateful to our sponsors and volunteers who constantly come forward to help us in organizing and executing these events.

Please send any suggestions you have to president@gcka.com, or contact any of our board members.

Once again, thank you for all your contributions and support. I am looking forward to working with you all.

Sincerely,

Louis Thottappilly

GCKA President
