Contest Rules:

• You can only enter traditional Kerala Style Plum Cakes.
• One entry allowed per family.
• The finished cake should be presented for display by 11:00 AM (Judging will start around 11:30 AM).
• The cake has to be presented as a whole to be judged. We will provide plates, spoons and napkins for the judge's use.
• Entry must be made from “scratch”. So please think out of the box. And by box we mean those of Betty Crocker, Duncan Hines, Pillsbury, etc. Please keep them away.
• Please be ready to answer any questions the judges might have about your recipe.
• The contest is open only to current GCKA members.
• ·Minimum 5 participants required for this competition. GCKA BOD reserves the right to cancel this competition if minimum number of participants has not been acquired.

Judging Criteria: Total 100 points

• Flavor (aroma, taste, good balance of flavors) - 30 points
• Consistency (moist and tender crumb; not soggy or dry)- 25 points
• Texture (even grain, lump free, evenly baked)- 20 points
• Visual Appeal (shape/size/even surface, overall appeal, no icing)- 15 points
• Presentation (how the cake is presented)- 10 points  

Judging will be done by local food experts.
